Type species. Mutilla affinis Westwood, 1843 (female), by subsequent designation of Ashmead, 1903: 307, 308.

Taxonomic history. Subjective synonym of Ephutomorpha André, 1902 according to André, 1902c: 48 (invalidly so, since Eurymutilla predates Ephutomorpha ). Resurrected to generic status by Ashmead, 1903: 307. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the males of other species were associated by Brothers, 1975: 591 and described by Lelej, 1983: 615.
