Type species. Odontophotopsis exogyrus Viereck, 1903 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Senior subjective synonym of Periphotopsis Schuster, 1958 and Tetraphotopsis Ashmead, 1903 . Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the female was associated and described for another species by Pitts & Parker, 2003: 3.

Distribution. Nearctic, Neotropical.
