Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Paramutilla halicta Mickel, 1973 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Lophomutilla Mickel, 1952 (female) according to Quintero & Cambra, 1996a: 338. Subjectively invalid name.

Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the males of other species were associated and identified (one as Paramutilla halicta Mickel, 1973: 2 ) by Quintero & Cambra, 1996a: 338.

Distribution. Neotropical.
