Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Physetopoda insulari s Schuster, 1949 (male), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla rubrocincta Lucas, 1849 (male), according to Brothers, 1983a: 444 ). The later designation of Mutilla montana Panzer, 1805 by Pagliano & Strumia, 2007: 72 is invalid.

Taxonomic history. Senior subjective synonym of Paramyrme Lelej, 1977 . Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized as such; the female of its senior synonym was associated and described by Lelej, 1985b: 205.

Distribution. Palaearctic, Oriental, Afrotropical.
