Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla ciliaticornis André, 1908 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female has not been recognized; the female of another species (subsequently transferred to a different genus) was associated but not described by Brothers, 1975: 592 .

Distribution. Afrotropical.
