Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla perfecta Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869 (male), by original designation. The later designation of Mutilla pectinata Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869 by Lelej, 2005: 166 is an error (ASL) and invalid.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the female of another species was associated and described by André, 1907b: 251.

Distribution. Oriental, Palaearctic.
