Type species: Zeadalmodes myrmecophilus Nomura and Leschen , new species
Diagnosis. Body large (2.72–3.18 mm), robust and elongate. Head narrower than prothorax and nearly circular in dorsal view, frons weakly concave, vertex slightly convex, with pair of welldemarcated, setose, round dorsal tentorial pits;

posterior constriction not notched and lacking lateral fovea; postgenae large and rounded, venter bearded ( Fig. 13B View Fig ). Antennae short and thick, weakly thickened towards apex, with insertions hidden in dorsal view; antennal tubercles weakly defined. Maxillary palpi short and thick, palpomere IV largest, nearly fusiform.
Pronotum about as long as head, gently convex and nearly circular, with pair of well-developed basilateral foveae, 3 longitudinal sulci (pair of lateral longitudinal sulci and median longitudinal sulcus), and well-demarcated bisinuate antebasal sulcus ( Fig. 13A View Fig ). Elytra slightly wider than long, weakly convex, rounded on humeri; each elytron with 2 basal foveae, humeral denticle, short longitudinal sulcus extending from outer basal fovea, and adsutural sulcus extending from inner basal fovea ( Fig. 13F View Fig ). Prosternum without lateral or median longitudinal carinae. Ventral foveae simple, those present as follows: gula (head); lateral procoxal (prosternum); small prepectal, lateral mesoventral, fused median mesoventral and lateral mesocoxal (mesoventrite); lateral metaventral (metaventrite); weak mediobasal and basolateral (abdominal sternite III). Legs short and stout; 1 tarsal claw present.
Abdomen elongate and subparallel-sided, with tergites equal in length, sternite III very short, and large, V-shaped projection between metacoxae; IV longer than III, large, broadened posteriorly, with pair of narrow paratergites on lateral sides; V about as large as IV, broadened posteriorly at sides.
Remarks. Zeadalmodes is easily separated from other trichonychine genera by having a large and robust body, a nearly circular pronotum with a welldemarcated bisinuate transverse sulcus, and a subparallel-sided abdomen.
Etymology. The new generic name is formed from the prefix “ Zea- ” meaning “of New Zealand ” and combined with the generic name “ Dalmodes ”.
