( Figs. 18A View Fig , 19 View Fig , 20 View Fig , 23C View Fig )

Neosampa Broun 1921: 518 View in CoL . Type species: Neosampa granulata Broun, 1921: 518 View in CoL , by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Body medium-sized (2.18–2.40 mm), robust, subcylindrical ( Fig. 18A View Fig ). Head width equal to prothorax and wider than long, frons weakly convex, vertex more or less flattaned with pair of well-demarcated, round dorsal tentorial pits; posterior constriction not notched and lacking lateral fovea; postgenae moderately developed and rounded posteriorly, venter weakly bearded ( Fig. 19B View Fig ). Eyes ovoid, visible in dorsal view ( Fig. 19A View Fig ). Antennae elongate with antennomere I twice as long as II, with insertions hidden in dorsal view; antennal tubercles weakly defined. Maxillary palpi elongate; palpomere IV largest, nearly fusiform. Pronotum about as wide as long, subglobose, median sulcus complete and weakly impressed, lateral longitudinal sulci well-developed, antebasal sulcus weakly impressed ( Fig. 19A View Fig ). Elytra as long as wide, weakly convex, without humeral denticle; each elytron with 3 basal foveae and 2 longitudinal sulci with outer sulcus extending from outer basal fovea to near middle ( Fig. 19F View Fig ). Prosternum with median longitudinal carina, lateral carinae absent. Ventral foveae simple, those present as follows: gula (head); lateral metaventral (metaventrite). Legs short and stout; 1 tarsal claw present.

Abdomen about as long as and narrower than elytra, with tergites equal in length ( Fig. 19E View Fig ), subrounded posteriorly in both sexes; sternite III very short ( Fig. 19E View Fig ). Male genitalia asymmetrical and bulbous ( Fig. 20D, E View Fig ).

Remarks. This genus is easily separated from the others in this group by the combination of the following characters: the medium-sized and subparallel-sided body, the robust and transverse head, the very long and slender antennae, the nearly circular pronotum with longitudinal and transverse sulci, and elytra with three basal foveae and two longitudinal sulci.
