Range: —Endemic to Bolivia (LP). Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial in humid forests; 2750–3550 m. Notes: —Sori and spores conspicuously large (spores to 50 μm long in P. maximum vs. to 38 μm long in P. montevidense ), suggesting that this may be a polyploid species in the P. montevidense complex. McHenry & Barrington (2014) included two specimens from Bolivia in their analysis.
