Annual. Leaves opposite. Flowers with distinct pedicel up to 3 mm. Sepals 4, obovate, about 3 times as long as petals at anthesis; petals 4; stamens 8; carpels 4. Capsule depressed, 4-sided. Seeds symmetrically horseshoe-shaped; reticulations on testa hexagonal at base of seed. S.E. & E.C. Europe, from S.E. Czechoslovakia to the lower Volga. Cz Hu Rm Rs (W, K, E) [Lu].
