Carineta trinidadensis Sanborn, 2020a View in CoL
Carineta trinidadensis Sanborn 2020a: 550 View in CoL View Cited Treatment (Asa Wright Nature Center, 7.5 miles N. of Arima on Blanchisseuse Road, Trinidad, West Indies).
Diagnosis. This is the larger of the two Trinidadian species of Carineta . It can be distinguished from Carineta matura by the larger body size (24.5–28.7 mm), distal bronzing of the hyaline wings, and the lack of thoracic markings. The basal pygofer lobe appendage is flattened at the base, narrowing rapidly and crossing the midline before recurving to the ipsilateral side where it bifurcates into a short, straight, posterior extension that is about one-quarter the length of the longer, curved anterior extension.
Distribution. The species is currently known only from Trinidad ( Sanborn 2020a).
