Isoplectron armatum Hutton, 1896 View in CoL

A small arboreal cave wētā, widespread throughout New Zealand’s eastern regions between Invercargill and Gisborne ( Fig. 10A View Fig ), this is by far the most common species in the genus Isoplectron . Based on examination of the adult male terminalia and on DNA analysis we recognize two subspecies, geographically separated by Cook Strait: Isoplectron armatum armatum in South Island and Isoplectron armatum aciculatum in North Island.
