Types. ɗ holotype (MCN 25049) from Alter do Chão, Santarém, Pará, Brazil, 29.I.1994, A. D. Brescovit leg.
Etymology. The specific name is a noun, in apposition taken from the type locality.
Diagnosis. The chelicerae are expanded laterally ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ) and the palpus presents the ventral and dorsal division of median apophysis close together ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). Tibiae of palpi are dilated at the middle portion ( Figs 9, 11–12 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ).
Description. ɗ (holotype). Carapace low ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ), 2.44 long, 2.17 wide, light brownish; with two yellowish median bands, with dark brown border, fovea marked; cephalic area dark brown with sparse light spots ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). Chelicerae yellowish, almost glabrous medially, with a projection on the lateral ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). Endites yellowish, 0.23 long, 0.11 wide; labium yellowish, darker on the base, 0.34 long, 0.43 wide; sternum yellow, unmarked, darker at the margins, with light brown setae, 1.30 long, 1.08 wide. Legs yellowish, with brownish spots dorsally. Abdomen, 2.94 long, grayish with irregular orange spots dorsally, yellowish ventrally, total length 5.38. Clypeus 1.11 long, 0.09 high; dark at the anterior margin. Anterior eye row moderately recurved, 0.58 wide; posterior recurved, 1.39 wide. Eye diameters, interdistances and ocular quadrangle: AME 0.12, ALE 0.09, PME 0.22, PLE 0.12; AME–AME 0.08, AME–ALE 0.04, PME–PME 0.18, PME–PLE 0.37, MOQ, 0.32 long, dorsal view, 0.28 frontal view, anterior width 0.25, posterior 0.28. Chelicerae, reddish brown. Leg measurements: I femur 5.14/ patelatibia 6.64/ metatarsus 5.16/ tarsus 2.07/ total 19.01; II 3.56/ 4.63/ 3.48/ 1.41/ 13.08; III 1.99/ 1.82/ 1.74/ 0.74/ 6.29; IV 3.41/ 3.48/ 3.47/ 1.32/ 11.68. Palpus with division of median apophysis and guide not conspicuous ventrally ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). The ectal division of retrolateral tibial apophysis is small and acuminated and ental division of retrolateral tibial apophysis longer and with a curved tip ( Figs 10, 12 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ). Ventrodistal protuberance of male palpal tibia (VP) prominent ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 12 ).
