Notes

A specimen from Para in MNHN has the label `Lacconotus foveicollis -type-’. I was unable to ®nd any subsequent reference to this name, and it is probably unpublished.

Diagnosis, adult

This species may be separated from its congeners by the following diagnostic combination: head relatively elongate (GHW/HL 0.90±0.95); antennomeres 4±10 distinctly serrated; pronotal punctation shallow, distinctly umbilicate.

Description, adult

Characters of Physiomorphus , with the following speci®c features: Body moderately elongate (TL/GEW 3.03±3.27), somewhat ovate. Head relatively long (GHW/HL 0.90±0.95); scape elongate, parallel-sided; antennomere 2 moniliform, about half length of scape; antennomere 3 relatively elongate, triangular; antennomeres 4±10 subserrated, distinctly transverse; antennomere 11 short, slightly constricted distal of midlength; last maxillary palpomere slightly expanded, securiform. Pronotum slightly wide (GPW/PL 1.22±1.39), moderately wider than head (GPW/ GHW 1.11±1.25); lateral margins of pronotal disc rounded, somewhat divergent anteriorly in basal half, then distinctly arcuate to anterior margin; discal depressions deep, well de®ned, circular; punctation shallow, distinctly umbilicate; setation FIGS 29±36. relatively sparse. Elytra distinctly convex, with suggestions of multiple, longitudinal costae; vestiture relatively sparse, not obscuring relatively ®ne and dense punctation; apical binding patches slightly visible dorsally. Abdomen. Sexual setae reddish, about half length of V2, directed posteriorly at about 30ss angle. Male genitalia with parameres inwardly relatively straight, without distinct distal sinuation.
