Odocnemis tuberculigera species-group
Description. Body not large (length up to 11.5 mm), moderately shining. Temples with groove in anterior part. Hypomera with fine wrinkles and without punctation. Elytra usually with distinct tubercles, some species with indistinct small tubercles: O. alcides ( Reitter, 1922) , O. subtuberculigera thracica subsp.n. Epipleura flattened from base to sutural angle, their inner small carina reaching sutural angle. Dorsal epipleural carina reaching apex of elytra, where transformed to elongate horizontal platform. Wings absent. Abdominal ventrites. Male abdominal ventrites 1 and sometimes 2 with hair brush. Anal ventrite without round or oval depression in middle. Legs. Male pro- and often mesotibia (sometimes also metatibia) with teeth or granules on inner side. Inner side of femora smooth, without punctation. Each trochanter often with dense hair brush. Male genitalia. Apical piece not thickened in basal half. Basal piece 1.4–2 × as long as apical piece. Median lobe baculi not merged. Branches of gastral spicula weakly bent. Male inner sternite VIII with distinct rounded apices, pubescent and setose on inner side. Female genital tubes. Spermatheca with short processes in middle. Base of spermatheca thickened in basal half (this character is probably only in O. subtuberculigera sp. n.); basal duct of spermatheca absent. Accessory gland about 2 × as long as spermatheca.
Distribution. Balkans, Eastern Europe, North-Western Turkey.
Composition. At least O. tuberculigera (Reiche & Saulcy, 1857) , O. badia (Redtenbacher, 1849) , O. nigropicea ( Küster, 1850) , O. crenatostriata ( Allard, 1877) , O. alcida ( Reitter, 1922) , O. cretensis ( Seidlitz, 1896) , O. subtuberculigera subtuberculigera sp. n., O. subtuberculigera thracica sp. n., O. bekiri M. Description, male. Body length 8.8–9.3 mm, body width 3.4–3.7 mm. Body slender, weakly convex, moderately shining, brown; legs and antennae red-brown. Head widest at level of eyes. Eyes dorsally round, convex. Ratio of head width at eyes to distance between eyes: 1.5. Genae regularly strongly rounded. Lateral margin of head with obtuse emargination between gena and clypeus. Punctation of head moderately coarse and dense: diameter of punctures subequal to distance between punctures. Antennae long (reaching almost 1/2 of elytral length), with 4 apical antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum. Pronotum weakly transverse (1.2 × as wide as long), cordiform, widest before middle, 1.6 × as wide as head. Lateral margins weakly rounded, sinuate in base. Anterior margin straight; base straight, sinuate in middle. Anterior angles obtuse, narrowly rounded on apex; posterior angles right, distinct on apex. All margins narrowly beaded. Disc regularly weakly convex, sometimes with small impression on each side near base. Punctation of disc moderately coarse, not dense (diameter of punctures visibly less than distance between punctures), punctures round. Hypomera with longitudinal wrinkles, very narrowly and weakly flattened laterally. Elytra weakly convex, widest at middle (1.7 × as long as wide), 1.3 × as wide and 2.6–2.65 × as long as pronotum, 2 × as wide as head. Strial punctures round, deep, merged in interrupted furrows. Elytral intervals flat, with moderately coarse punctation and small distinct tubercles apically and laterally. Epipleural carinae wide and distinctly visible in dorsal view throughout entire length; epipleura with inner narrow carinae reaching elytral apex. Lateral margins of elytra straight (not sinuate) apically. Ventral side of body bare. Metaventrite with same punctation as pronotum. Abdominal ventrites with fine and sparse punctation; ventrite 1 with very dense punctation and dense hair brush at middle; sometimes 2nd ventrite also with small hair brush; ventrite 5 with two oblique weak depressions on each side, covered with very short recumbent hairs, completely beaded on apex. Legs. Inner side of femora smooth, without punctation. Tibiae narrow, straight. Protibiae with 3–4 teeth; mesotibiae with 5 teeth; metatibiae with 3–5 very small teeth. Each trochanter with dense hair brush.
Description, female. Body length 9.6–11 mm, body width 4–4.4 mm. Antennae shorter than in male, with 3 (rarely 4) antennomeres extending beyond base of pronotum, reaching 1/4 of elytral length. First and second abdominal ventrites without hair brush. Anal ventrite without depressions, only flattened in middle.
Etymology. The name can be translated as “almost tuberculigera ” and shows its similiraty to Odocnemis tuberculigera (Reiche & Saulcy, 1857) .
Bionomics. The species was found on Quercus robur in the evening (19:00–23:00) and also on Pinus sp. (Manisa Province).
Diagnosis. This species is similar to O. alcides ( Reitter, 1922) from Greece, from which it differs by the presence of clearly visible teeth on inner side of all legs of male ( O. alcides has only some very small granules on inner side of protibiae), rounded genae ( O. alcides has anglular genae), less dense punctation of head (diameter of punctures in O. alcides 2 × as long as distance between punctures), wider pronotum (pronotum of O. alcides only 1.1 × as wide as long), connected strial punctures and completely beaded anal ventrite.
