Subgenus Pontoscolex (Pontoscolex) : Righi 1984
Diagnosis. Tubercula pubertatis extend for 3–5 segments in the region of segments 19–23. Posterior setae are arranged in regular series, or some regular and others irregular, or in quincunx. Some anterior septa present unconventional parietal insertion ( Righi 1984). Number of species: 16. Distribution: Brasil (10), Venezuela (2), Puerto Rico (2), Colombia (1) and one species pantropical.
