Key to species of Aotearoazeus
1. Mesopleuron smooth and shining. Foveate groove deep and long, extending from anterior end to lower hind corner of mesopleuron ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 52–58 ). Clypeus about twice as broad as long ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 52–58 ). Basal keel and transverse carina of propodeum with short adjacent wrinkles ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 52–58 ). Ovipositor very robust, short, and strongly upcurved, its sheath 0.2–0.3× as long as hind tibia ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 52–58 )............................................................................... - Mesopleuron granulate, dull. Foveate groove absent or weak and short ( Figs 40 View FIGURES 38–44 , 48 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Clypeus wider, at least 2.4× as broad as long ( Figs 39 View FIGURES 38–44 , 46 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Basal keel and transverse carina of propodeum without adjacent wrinkles. Ovipositor much longer, weakly upcurved, its sheath 0.9–1.2× as long as hind tibia............................................................ 2
2. Glymma weak, situated near centre of first tergite ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 38–44 ). Malar space about 0.7× as long as basal mandibular width ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 38–44 ). Flagellum with 25–27 flagellomeres ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 38–44 ). Hind leg dark brown with only trochanters pale ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 38–44 ). Second tergite almost twice as long as anteriorly broad. Ovipositor with shallow dorsal subapical depression ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 38–44 ), its sheath slightly shorter than hind tibia................................................................. - Glymma deep, situated in basal 0.3–0.4 of first tergite ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Malar space 1.0–1.2× as long as basal mandibular width ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Flagellum with 21–24 flagellomeres ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Hind leg reddish brown with only coxa darkened ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 45–51 ). Second tergite 1.1–1.5× as long as anteriorly broad. Ovipositor with deep and narrow dorsal subapical notch ( Fig. 51 View FIGURES 45–51 ), its sheath somewhat longer than hind tibia...................................................................
