Hairs on dorsum of head straight, as long as diameter of lateral ocelli. Clypeus without a transverse carina, anterior margin truncate; malar space as long as transverse diameter of median ocellus; shortest distance between eyes below antennal sockets in front view 1.1 × eye height; middle fovea broad with a short deep furrow on bottom; interocellar furrow deep, postocellar furrow broad and shallow; postocellar area 1.5 × as broad as long, weakly elevated and clearly below top of ocelli, without middle ridge; lateral furrows weakly curved, deep in entire length, subparallel; head behind eyes 0.8 × as long as eye in dorsal view; curved laterally and then convergent posteriorly; genal carina sharp, complete ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 j). Antenna as long as head, thorax and abdominal tergites 1–2 together, as long as vein C, 2nd antennomere 1.5 × as long as broad, relative length of 3rd to 4th antennomeres as 1.7, 5th to 8th antennomeres hardly compressed, outer sides of 5th to 8th antennomeres with weak furrows, 7th antennomere 2.6 × as long as broad. Male. Length, 10 mm ( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 b, 5f). Body black; 2nd to 4th abdominal tergites, 2nd to 5th abdominal sternites, and most of 6th sternite yellowish brown; legs yellowish brown to orange, each coxa, fore and middle trochanter, a small dot on apex of hind femur black; similar to female in structure, but malar space 0.5 × transverse diameter of median ocellus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 q); shortest distance between eyes below antennal sockets in front view 1.05 × eye height; head behind eyes 0.6 ×eyes in dorsal view, curved laterally and then strongly convergent posteriorly; genitalia as in Figs 10 View FIGURE 10 u, 10v.
Variation. A female collected from Yunnan has the hind trochanter dark brown and first abdominal tergite less microsculptured. A male collected in Myanmar, which is named as S. rufipes var. infuscata Malaise, 1945 , has the second tergite black.

(SDEI) barcode: BOLD:ABV4520 (Taeger pers. comm.).
Distribution. China (Yunnan); Myanmar.
Remarks. This species is close to S. carinoclypea Niu &Wei, 2010 but differs from it in the anterior margin of clypeus truncate without a middle incision and without transverse carina ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 n, 7k); the postocellar area weakly elevated ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 k), clearly below top of ocelli, and 1.5 × as broad as long; the lateral furrows of postocellar area curved and deep in entire length ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 j); the ovipositor sheath as long as middle tibia; the lancet with 16 serrulae and the middle serrulae each with about 18–20 distal fine teeth; the femora and tibia in male almost entirely orange; the shortest distance between eyes below antennal sockets in front view in male about as long as eye height.
Taeger (pers. comm.) assumes that the male types of S. atra belong to S. semipicta , and S. rufipes is the male of S. atra . After careful study, we confirm that standpoint. Malaise (1945) recorded 30 rufipes specimens from Kambaiti at 2000 m. Already in the NHRS collection 33 specimens are to be found, and further specimens in other collections. Referring to Malaise's papers, it is obvious that he often estimated or rounded higher numbers of specimens (Taeger, pers. comm.). As there is no indication to exclude specimens with the data given by Malaise, 13 additional specimens of S. rufipes from the BMNH, one from HNHM, one from CSCS, and one from MNCN were labeled as paralectotypes.
