Andraegoidus fabricii ( Dupont, 1838)

Type locality. Brazil merid. ( MNHN). Distribution. Brazil (Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Ceará, Bahia, Espírito Santo) , Bolivia (Santa Cruz) .

The original descriptions of Andraegoidus fabricii and Chydarteres formosus are very similar, with only a few differences related to the highly variable coloration. The four apical antennomeres vary from white or red to almost black or brownish; also the red and black color of the elytra is very changeable, from brownish to red and black to completely red. Comparison of a photograph of the holotype of Andraegoidus fabricii and the holotype of Chydarteres formosus , deposited in UEFS, and the comparative examination of 48 specimens helped us to determine that the differences between these taxa are due to intraspecific variation.
