Family ARCHAEOBUTHIDAE Lourenço, 2001

TYPE GENUS. Archaeobuthus Lourenço, 2001 DIAGNOSIS (after Lourenço, 2001, expanded and modified here). Conforms to orthobothriotaxic Type F1 (see Soleglad & Fet, 2001, as modified here, Figs. 2–5 View Figures 2–5 ): ten trichobothria found on the chela, Eb 1, Eb 2, Est, Et 1, V 1 , db, dt, eb, est, and et; seven trichobothria found on the patella, d 1, d 3, i, eb 1, esb 1, est and et 1; nine trichobothria found on the femur, d 1, d 2, d 3, d 4, d 5, i 1, i 2, i 3, and e 3. The alignment of femoral trichobothria d 1, d 3, and d 4 is essentially parallel to the dorsoexternal carina, and trichobothrium d 2 is located on the dorsal surface; leg tibial spurs are absent; ventral distal (vd) denticle of cheliceral movable finger extends beyond dorsal distal (dd) denticle; stigma small, oval to circular in shape.
