Diagnosis.
For species descriptions see Shear 1986. Discriminated from other Acuclavella having a single pair of paramedian spines on tergite II by having relatively homogenously colored leg segments, not giving the appearance of banding at leg joints (from Acuclavella makah and Acuclavella leonardi ) or by having scutal spines> 0.50 mm and ocularium height from ventral edge of eye to tip of spine> 0.60 mm (from Acuclavella sheari ).
Distribution and habitat.
Acuclavella merickeli populations are bracketed to the south by the South Fork Clearwater River and to the north by the Selway River; all localities in Nez Perce National Forest, Idaho County, Idaho. Coniferous habitat dominated by Picea englemannii or Thuja plicata and Pseudotsuga menziesii ; microhabitats include moist woody debris and moss adjacent to small perennial water features such as side-slope seeps and headwater streams.
