Diagnosis. Belonging in Group I, Subgroup IB ( García Aldrete et al. 2011 b). It differs from the species in that group (see above) by having a wide concavity between the slender and pointed posterior projections of the central sclerite of the hypandrium.
Male. Color (in 80% ethanol). Body pale brown, with creamy and dark brown spots. Head pattern ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ), with a dark brown oblique band from the lower inner edge of each compound eye to epistomal sulcus, surrounding the antennal fossae. A slender brown band from each compound eye to the ocellar triangle. Compound eyes dark green; ocelli hyaline. Vertex cream, with dark brown spots between the epicranial suture and each compound eye. Postclypeus with thin converging brown bands. Anteclypeus and labrum dark brown. Genae pale cream from the compound eyes to the subgenal suture. Antennae: scape and pedicel brown; flagellum basal half cream and distal half light brown. Mx 1–2 cream, Mx 3–4 brown. Tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax dark brown, with light brown spots. Thoracic pleura brown and white. Legs: coxae cream, with brown spot on basal and apical areas; trochanters light cream; femora cream, with brown spot on basal and apical areas; tarsus 1 brown, tarsi 2–3 dark brown. Forewings mostly hyaline, with a small brown spot on nodulus; pterostigma almost hyaline. Hindwings hyaline. Abdomen pale brown dorsally and dark brown ventrally, both with creamy areas. Hypandrium dark brown. Epiproct and paraprocts brown.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ) H/MxW: 1.50; compound eyes large, H/d: 2.67; IO/MxW: 0.83; vertex slightly concave in the middle; outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with 8 denticles. Forewings ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 36 – 40 ) L/W: 2.69; pterostigma: lp/wp: 6.21, elongate, wider in the middle; M five branched, M1 and M5 distally forked; areola postica: la/ha: 1.3, high, apically rounded. Hindwings ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ) l/w: 2.84; M two branched. Hypandrium ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ), central sclerite broad, setose; lateral sclerites elongate, wider distally, bilobed. Phallosome ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ) Y-shaped anteriorly, with long stem; external parameres wide, elongate, more sclerotized on the inner margin, distally bifid, curved inwards. Three pairs of endophallic sclerites; posterior pair straight, wider in the middle, each arm curved outwards distally; anterior pair M shaped, each arm distally slender, hooked, proximally dilated, inner arms of the M slender, touching in the middle; mesal pair with arms short, curved, blunt ended, close to the middle arms of the anterior sclerite. Paraprocts ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ) broad, oval, with long and short setae posteriorly; sensory fields with 28–29 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 56 – 60 ) broad, anteriorly convex, rounded posteriorly, setae as illustrated.

Female. Color (in 80% ethanol). Body, head, legs, epiproct, paraprocts and wings as in the male. Subgenital plate with sides and median area hyaline; pigmented area broad, U-shaped. Gonapophyses brown, distal process of v2 +3 and ninth sternum orange.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) H/MxW: 1.48; large compound eyes, H/d: 2.78; IO/MxW: 0.81; vertex as in the male; outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with 7–8 denticles. Forewings ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) L/W: 2.75; pterostigma; lp/wp: 6.43, elongate, wider in the middle; M five branched, M5 forked; areola postica: la/ ha: 1.33. Hindwings ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) l/w: 3.0; M two branched. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 64 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) wide, posteriorly rounded, setose as illustrated. Gonapophyses ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ): v1 elongate, slender and acuminate; v2 +3 with short proximal heel; a row of 8-10 setae on v2; distal process long, sinuous and acuminate, with microsetae on surface. Ninth sternum ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) wide, well sclerotized, broadly triangular, with a posterior, sclerotized transverse band, projected in the middle. Paraprocts ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) broad, triangular, with field of long and short setae posteriorly and along outer border; sensory fields with 27–28 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 61 – 65 ) triangular, wide based, rounded posteriorly, setae as illustrated.

Etymology. The specific epithet, a noun in apposition, is a tribute to the Universidad del Valle, Santiago de Cali, Colombia, that presently celebrates its 70th anniversary.
