L. [ Lithobius (Oligobothrus) ] Vosseleri : Verhoeff 1901: 441 (synonymy). Archilithobius dadayi Tömosvary [sic], 1880: Turk 1952: 657 (misidentification). Lithobius vossleri Verhoeff : Eason 1983: 122 (synonymy).

Material examined: 176 3, 74 ƤƤ, 7 unsexed, 15 larvae.

General distribution. Europe: Greece ( Dodecanese); North Africa: Egypt; West Asia: Cyprus, northwestern Iran, Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, southwestern Turkey; Central Asia: Turkmenistan (Zalesskaja 1978; Eason 1981; Zapparoli 1991, 1999; Stoev 1997).

Chorotype. Turano-Mediterranean.

Habitats. Sandy beaches, cultivations with vineyards, under Eucalyptus , maquis and phryganic formations with Sarcopoterium spinosum , Ceratonia and Pistacia , mixed forests with Pinus , Quercus and Acer , mixed Pinus forest, near ponds with Eucalyptus and Acacia , ravines with Platanus , Juniperus and Pinus , open fields with Ceratonia .

Altitudinal range: 0–1900 m.

Remarks. Generically quoted from Cyprus by Verhoeff (1901) under L. vosseleri , whose identity has been discussed by Eason (1983). The record under “ Archilithobius dadayi Tömösvary, 1880 ” given by Turk (1952) from Mountain Olympus (Troodos Mt.), is assigned here to this species.
