Staurglossicus lepidus Murray 1864: 399
A specimen was studied with a label reading “TYPE”, along with other identifiers allowing this specimen to be matched to the original holotype used by Murray in 1864. Murray did not state how many specimens were used but body measurements were not ranges, which he used when he had more specimens available. All primary types of Carpophilinae for Murray’s 1864 revision of the family Nitidulidae View in CoL are deposited in the Natural History Museum, London, UK. Therefore, this specimen can be reliably considered the holotype. Labels for the specimen are as follows: “Type” “Batchian./Wallace.” “68-106”. A red label is added with the following text: “ HOLOTYPE /Staurglossicus lepidus Murray /Det. By/Powell and Martin 2019”.
