Etymology. From hypselos (Gr. = high/tall) + spina (L. = backbone). A reference to the singularly slender and elongate neural spines found on the dorsal, sacral and caudal vertebrae.
Type and only species. Hypselospinus fittoni ( Lydekker, 1889) .
