Genus Helcophorus Fairmaire, 1881
Helcophorus Fairmaire, 1881 : cxxix.
Type species: Helcophorus miniatus Fairmaire, 1881 (original designation).
= Hiekeolycus Winkler, 1987: 66 .
Type species: Hiekeolycus berendti Winkler, 1987 (original designation): Kazantsev, 1995.
Remarks. Along with Pseudaplatopterus and Kolibaceum, the genus Helcophorus has both fossil and modern representatives. However, unlike in Pseudaplatopterus and Kolibaceum, whose living species are referred to separate subgenera ( Eropterus Green, 1951 , a subgenus of Pseudaplatopterus , and Laterialis Kazantsev, 1990 and Tricostaeptera Kazantsev, 1997 , subgenera of Kolibaceum), both extinct and extant species have been discovered in both subgenera of Helcophorus ( Kazantsev, 2015; 2020).
Distribution. Southeast of Palaearctic and north of Oriental realms. Fossil taxa known from Baltic and Rovno amber ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ).
