( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5. A & B C, D & 6B–E)
1981a Stenocypris malayica n. sp. —Victor & Fernando: 157–158, figs 34–45.
2007 Stenocypris malayica Victor & Fernando, 1981 —Meisch et al.: 98, tables 1, 2, 4, fig. 3b.
Remarks. The combination of a second ‘claw’ on the sixth limb (an enlarged h3 seta) ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C) and tightly curved posterior margin of the carapace ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 B) easily distinguishes this species from other Stenocypris . Stenocypris malayica was previously reported from Malaysia, Indonesia ( Victor & Fernando 1981a), and Oceania ( Meisch et al. 2007). This is the first report from Japan and suggests that this species may be widespread. In Lake Biwa only five specimens were recovered off the Karasuma Peninsula. Locality ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ): 25
