Discussion. We have not seen material of Cerithium galeotti from the Rupelian of the North Sea (see Nyst 1843: 537, pl. 42, fig. 6) but assume that it represents a subjective junior synonym of G. plicatum . At least, the Paratethyan records identified as G. galeotti are identical with G. plicatum .
Central Paratethys. Eggenburgian (Early Miocene): Central Slovakia: Veľká Čausa ( Slovakia) ( Steininger et al. 1973).
Eastern Paratethys. Rupelian (early Oligocene): Transcaucasia: Karatubani ( Kacharava, 1944) ;? Sakaraulian (Early Miocene): Kaspi ( Georgia) ( Kharatishvili 1952) (will need verification).
