Psyche inquinata Lederer, 1858: 142 , holotype in MfN (examined). Type locality Lebanon, Beirut.

Material examined: 4 ♁ Israel, 6 km S Sede Boqer, Avdat, 14–15. x.1987, leg. Dorn; 3 ♁, ditto, 24.ix.1987, leg. Dorn: 3 ♁ ditto, 29.-30.ix.1987, leg. Hacker; 1 ♁ ”Jordantal” Zerga river Valley, 200 m, 29.ix.1954, leg. Trough ( CWA, MWM); 32 Larval cases Palestine, Desert Judaea 15 km ENE Jerusalem, Kefar Adumin, 300 m, 21.iv.1987, leg. de Freina.

Redescription. Head. Frons and vertex long yellowish hairy. Eyes EI 0.66. Antennae of half forewing length with 38–39 pecten.

Thorax. Wings. Covered with darker brownish hair-like scales. Wingspan 24–27 mm, forewing length 10–12 mm. FI 2.2. Forewings stretched, costal margin straight or slightly convex. Light brownish grey, hindwings of the same colour. Forewing with broad and short scales, mostly with two dentations.

Abdomen distinctly protruding the anal margin of the hindwings.

Male genitalia. GP 4128, 4151 ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33–41. 33 ). Long and slender in general appearance. Tegumen distinctly pointed, broadly folded laterally. When closed, valvae protruding the distal end of the tegumen. Valvae slender, clasper of the sacculus distinctly sclerotized, covered with 4 long spines. Cucullus is very short, directed downwardly. Vinculum is very narrow, the lobes laterally hardly pronounced. Saccus is very short, and slightly enlarged caudally. Phallus nearly straight, hammer-shaped, two-lobed distally with a ventral inversion.

Female. Unknown. Larval case. Length 32-40 mm, width 14-15 mm. Longitudinally covered with twigs.

Distribution. Besides the type locality in Lebanon, it is distributed in Israel and Jordan.
