Comments. Buenoa salutis is the smallest species of the genus, at the largest about 4.0 mm in length. This species resembles B. konta (see comments from the previous species) and B. amnigenus . Buenoa salutis and B. amnigenus have a sympatric distribution, occurring from Trinidad and Tobago to Argentina. These species are similar in general appearance and in typical characteristics of the group: vertex broad, synthlipsis narrow, stridulatory area of fore femur absent, and fore tibia with parallel margins.
Buenoa salutis differs from B. amnigenus by its reduced size, a broader synthlipsis, the frons broad, the tylus flat, the apex of the rostral prong sinuous ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 63 – 71. 63 – 65 ), and the stridulatory teeth of the fore tibia of similar size ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES 63 – 71. 63 – 65 ). Buenoa amnigenus has a distinctly greater length, the synthlipsis conspicuously narrow, the frons narrow, the tylus not inflated athough rounded, the apex of rostral prong rounded ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 63 – 71. 63 – 65 ), and stridulatory teeth on the fore tibia increasing in size toward the apex ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 63 – 71. 63 – 65 ).
This species is often collected with specimens of B. amnigenus and, less frequently, with specimens of B. amnigenopsis .
