Olcotomaspis Lallemand , redefined.
Olcotomaspis Lallemand, 1949: 29 .
Hyalotomaspis Lallemand, 1949: 30 (subgenus, stat.nov.)
Diagnosis. Resembling the old-world Phymatostetha but with antennal sensillae not flattened and quite different male genitalia (compare to figures of Phymatostetha in Metcalf & Horton 1934 ).
Description. Subgenital plates separate to (but not beyond) base as in Tomaspisina , but with low, spiculate basal lobe; theca strongly laterally compressed, rcurved, tip truncate, with spiculate anterior angle and long pair of erect processes prominently toothed on outer edge ( Carvalho & Webb 2005, figs 186–187).
Included taxa: Hyalotomaspis Lallemand is an autapomorph, a single species with the tegminal venation prominent on hyaline wings but having all the other characteristic features of the type-species of Olcotomaspis including the characteristic orange pattern on the notum (compare Fig. 7 A to fig. 557 in Carvalho & Webb 2005). Three species belong to this genus: Olcotomaspis versicolor (Lallemand) and two new combinations from Tomaspis : clarissa Jacobi (type-species of Hyalotomaspis ) and Tomaspis laterinotata Fowler , known only from the female holotype. The antennal sensilla of the latter could not be ascertained as the postpedicels on both sides of the head are appressed to the gena ( Fig. 17 C).
