Zuata tettigoniella (Breddin) , description of male.

Diagnosis. Male similar to female type ( Carvalho & Webb 2005, fig. 320) but in 2 of the 3 specimens the orange patch on the tegminal base is shorter, separated from the preapical orange band by the same width as that of their black apices.

Description. Male genitalia as in Z. segui , but male pygofer with only single setose lobe at base of anal tube, tips of subgenital plates nearly touching at midline, and styles with apical process shorter and more curved. Length: 7.5–7.8 mm, width across eyes 1.9 mm, across pronotum 2.5–2.6 mm; length of eye 0.5–0.6 mm, of side margins of pronotum 0.7–0.8 mm.

Remarks. The female type from Peru matches the 3 male specimens in NCSU but is slightly longer (8 mm). The males were taken at 1200m at Abitagua, Ecuador on 25 May 1939 by Wm. Clark-Macintyre.

Zuata zebra sp. nov.

Etymology. zebra, Old Spanish for wild ass (noun in apposition).

Diagnosis. Black strikingly marked with ivory.

Description. Outer edge of fore coxa, bands across tylus and anterior margin of pronotum and longitudinal stripes on scutellum and clavus ivory, latter paralleling claval suture; corium marked with white paralleling costal margin and also with circular white spot across subapical cells ( Fig. 13 B). Male pygofer truncate; small transverse plate at base of anal tube ( Fig. 44 A); subgenital plates deeply divided, with abruptly narrowed tips and longitudinal folds reaching to base ( Fig. 44 D); style tip long and nearly straight; theca slender, weakly recurved ( Fig. 44 B); paired apical processes flanking gonopore with small lateral tooth near midlength ( Fig. 44 C). Length: 8.3 mm, width across eyes 2.0 mm, across pronotum 2.7 mm; length of eye 0.6 mm, of side margins of pronotum 0.7 mm.
