Despite several recent studies of the Typhlopidae allocating Merrem as its author, Solís et al. (2014) and Wallach et al. (2014) gave different authors for the Typhlopidae . Solís et al. listed Fitzinger 1826 and Wallach et al. used Gray 1825.
