FAMILY SPHAERODACTYLIDAE Underwood 1954 , 476

(3 genera, 13 species, 8 endemic species)

Aristelliger Cope 1862 , 496 (2 species, 1 endemic species)

Aristelliger georgeensis (Bocourt 1873, 41 in A.H.A. Duméril et al. 1870–1909). Recent collection of a series of specimens assigned to this species by McCranie (2009) and Solís et al. (2014) reveal that they represent an undescribed, Honduran endemic species (S.B. Hedges pers. comm.), which will be described in the near future.

Aristelliger nelsoni (E) Barbour 1914, 258. McCranie (2011a) considered this a full species (but without supporting data) and not a subspecies of A. praesignis (Hallowell 1857 [p. 222]). Powell & Henderson (2012) also listed this Honduran endemic as a full species. Solís et al. (2014), without comment, continued to list this species as A. praesignis . The validity of A. nelsoni is being documented by S. B. Hedges (pers. comm.).

Gonatodes Fitzinger 1843 , 91 (1 species)

Gonatodes albogularis (A.M.C. Duméril & Bibron 1836, 415)

Sphaerodactylus Wagler 1830 , 143 (10 species, 7 endemic species)

Sphaerodactylus alphus (E) McCranie & Hedges 2013, 44

Sphaerodactylus continentalis Werner 1896 , 345

Sphaerodactylus dunni (E) K. Schmidt 1936, 46

Sphaerodactylus exsul (E) Barbour 1914, 264. McCranie (2011a) considered this a full species (but without supporting data) and not a subspecies of S. notatus Baird (1859 [p. 254]). Powell & Henderson (2012) also listed this Honduran endemic as a full species. Solís et al. (2014), without comment, continued to list this species as S. notatus .

Sphaerodactylus glaucus Cope 1866 , 192. Solís et al. (2014) listed the date of the Cope publication as 1865, but the available evidence indicates it was not published until 1866, as is frequently the case with the journal in which the name first appeared. McCranie (in prep.; the non-dactyloid lizards, crocodyles, and turtles of Honduras) will discuss that publication date as it relates to the type series of S. glaucus .

Sphaerodactylus guanajae (E) McCranie & Hedges 2012, 70

Sphaerodactylus leonardovaldesi (E) McCranie & Hedges 2012, 66

Sphaerodactylus millepunctatus Hallowell 1861 , 480

Sphaerodactylus poindexteri (E) McCranie & Hedges 2013, 42

Sphaerodactylus rosaurae (E) Parker 1940, 264
