Scolopella Carayon, 1954: 599 . Type species: Scolopella brasiliensis Carayon, 1954 .
Diagnostic characters. Body long, subcylindrical, narrow and slightly flat. Head widened behind eyes. Eyes small. Space between ocelli wider than interocular space. Rostrum short, thick, not reaching fore coxae, longer than in Scolopa . Lateral margins of pronotum nearly straight. Fore and hind femora enlarged, without spines. Fossula spongiosa on fore tibiae small. Hemelytra slender, with membrane longer than corium. A single external orifice of uradenia on sternum III, with long, erect hairs. Left paramere gently curved, with many acute teeth at apex. Metapleura small, ostiolar peritreme ( Figs. 26, 27 View Figs ) curved forward, apically acute. Median sulcus only present on basal half.
