Crivoptychoptera nebrias sp. nov.

( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 )

Material. Holotype: SNHMB-G.5995 , part and counterpart of a well-preserved isolated wing.

Etymology. From nebrias (Greek) , spotted like a fawn.

Locality and horizon. Fuchsberg near Seinstedt, Lower Saxony, Germany; ’Fossilführende Wechselfolge’ of grey claystone as an intercalation of fine-grained sand- and siltstones, Shipingia gerbachmanni conchostracan zone; latest Sevatian (upper Norian); Upper Triassic.

Description. Isolated wing 7.0 mm long, 2.4 times as long as width. Wing transparent, with numerous dark spots at apices of Sc and R 1, at crossveins R 2, r-m, m-cu, supernumerary crossvein r5-m1, furcations of radial and medial veins, forming at least two stripes in middle (r-m level) and distal part (R 2 level) of wing. Sc exceeding 0.55 wing midlength, proximal to furcation of R 4+5 and M 3+4; arculus present; R 1 exceeding 0.75 wing length; Rs origin at 0.27 wing length; costal section Sc–R 1 clearly longer than R 1 –R 3, Rs stem straight, 2.0 times as long as R 4+5 stem; R 2+3 subequal to R 3; R 4 sharply curved forward in distal half, so its apex closer to R 3, not to R 5, R 4+5 fork 3.2 times as long as R 4+5 stem, furcations of R 4+5 and M 3+4 on same level, r-m distal to Rs furcation, dividing R 4+5 stem as 1:3, basal portion of M 3+4 (before m-cu) subequal to m-cu, M 3+4 1.8 times as long as M 4.
