Scapular tubercles set ahead of rear shield margin, 21 (20–22) apart, scapular setae absent. Coxisternal plates— Sculptured with lines; coxisternal plates І with prosternal apodeme; anterolateral setae on coxisternum І (1b) absent; proximal setae on coxisternum І (1a) 19 (15–23), 7 (6–8) apart; proximal setae on coxisternum ІІ (2a) 30 (25–35), 23 (21–25) apart. Coxal-genital annuli 6. Legs— Segments normal. Legs І 40 (37–43), trochanter 2 (2–3), femur 13 (12–14), basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent; genu 7 (7–8), antaxial genual setae (l'') 45 (40–50); tibia 5 (4–5), paraxial tibial setae (l ʹ) absent; tarsus 13 (12–13), paraxial fastigial tarsal setae (ft') 23 (21–26), antaxial fastigial tarsal setae (ft'') 22 (21–25), paraxial unguinal tarsal setae (u') 4 (3–5); tarsal empodium (ω) divided, 10 (10–11), each branch 7-rayed, tarsal solenidion 6 (6–7), knobbed. Legs ІІ 26 (25–29), trochanter 2 (2); femur 9 (9–10), basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent; genu 3 (2–3), antaxial genual setae (l'') absent; tibia 4 (4–5); tarsus 8 (8–9), paraxial fastigial tarsal setae (ft') 7 (7–8), antaxial fastigial tarsal setae (ft'') 25 (20–28), paraxial unguinal tarsal setae (u') 5 (4– 5); tarsal empodium (ω) divided, 11 (10–11), each branch 7-rayed, tarsal solenidion 6 (6–7), knobbed. Opisthosoma— Dorsum with median and lateral ridges, dorsal annuli 37, smooth; ventral annuli 54, with rounded microtubercles on rear annular margin; setae c2 absent; setae d 34 (33–35), 36 (33–40) apart, on 22th ventral annulus; setae e 18 (17–20), 18 (15–20) apart, on 35th ventral annulus; setae f 21 (20–23), 18 (18–19) apart, on 6th ventral annulus from rear; setae h1 absent, setae h2 38 (33–42). Female genitalia— 14 (13–15), 23 (21–25) wide, coverflap sculptured with basal short lines, proximal setae on coxisternum ІІІ (3a) 9 (8–10), 15 (14–15) apart.

Male (n = 2) Body 141–153, 55–61 wide. Prodorsal shield— 30–33, 50–56 wide, median, admedian and submedian lines incomplete, median line forked and connects admedian lines at base; a short transverse line connects median and admedian lines. Scapular tubercles set ahead of rear shield margin, 20–21 apart, scapular setae absent. Legs— Segments normal. Legs І basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent; antaxial genual setae (l'') present; paraxial tibial setae (l ʹ) absent; tarsal empodium (ω) divided, each branch 7-rayed, tarsal solenidion knobbed. Legs ІІ basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent; antaxial genual setae (l'') absent; tarsal empodium (ω) divided, each branch 7-rayed, tarsal solenidion knobbed. Opisthosoma— Dorsum with median and lateral ridges, dorsal annuli 37, smooth; ventral annuli 54, with rounded microtubercles on rear annular margin; setae c2 absent; setae h1 absent. Male genitalia— 13–14 wide, proximal setae on coxisternum ІІІ (3a) 8, 12–13 apart.

Type data. Holotype, female, Bubeng village, Mengla county (21°30’N, 101°28’E), Yunnan, China, 28- Nov.-2007, from Terminalia sp. ( Combretaceae ), collected by Guo-Quan Wang. Paratypes, 6 females 2 males, were mounted on 8 slides, with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. The mites are vagrants on the leaf undersurfaces, no visible damage seen.

Etymology. The new species is named emarginata from the anterior shield emarginated.

Remarks. The two species, V. emarginata sp. nov. and V. quisqualii ( Chandrapatya, 1997) , are covered with the wax and are easily separated from the other eight species of Vimola spp. The new species V. emarginata sp. nov. is differentiated from V. quisqualii by the following characters: Coxisternal plates І with prosternal apodeme, dorsal annuli smooth and empodium each branch 7-rayed. In V. quisqualii , the coxisternal plates І are fused, the dorsal annuli have microtubercles and each branch of the empodium is 5- rayed ( Chandrapatya & Boczek 1997).
