Neralsia nigricornis Kirby, 1889 n. comb. ‘ species dubia ’
Aspicera nigricornis Kirby, 1889: 142-143
Acording to the description, this species collected from Brazil does not belong to Aspicerinae because the metasoma is very strongly longitudinally striate (according to the original description), while in Aspicerinae it is always smooth. It belongs without doubts to Neralsia (Figitinae) , and it is related to the Neralsia group with high interfoveal carina. Nevertheless, the diagnostic characters needed to differentiate this species from other species in this Neralsia group are not mentioned by Kirby (1889). The type material is presumably lost because it has not been found in the British Museum (David Notton, pers. com.). Thus, we have to consider this species as “ species dubia ”.
