Hydrochus pietersenae Makhan 1993: 68 View in CoL
Originally described from Bolivia. Other than the holotype and paratypes only a single male was examined, and imaged ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 , 43 View FIGURES 42–43 ) .
Material examined (1): Bolivia: Santa Cruz, 3.7 km SSE Buena Vista, Hotel Flora y Fauna , elev. 400 m (17°29’S, 63°33’W), 23–30.iv.2004, leg. A. Cline and J. Wappes (1 SEMC) GoogleMaps .
Remarks. I have examined the male genitalia of the holotype and four paratypes of H. pietersenae Makhan (HNHM) . All five specimens have the form of the distal piece as illustrated herein ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 42–43 ). The male genitalia drawing in Makhan (2001), which does not include two of the three processes of the distal piece, is inaccurate and misleading. Images of the male genitalia of the holotype are given herein. The holotype is in poor condition, broken due to the poor specimen technique of a prior worker. Therefore, a different specimen, from Bolivia, has been used for the habitus images.
