Machaerium orientalis Yang & Li, 1998: 321. Type locality: China: Zhejiang, Longwangshan. Nepalomyia orientalis (Yang & Li, 1998): Yang et al., 2006: 334.
Diagnosis. First flagellomere about 4.5 times longer than wide, with thick base; halter yellow. Epandrium bearing finger-like lateral tubercle; hypandrium with narrow base and wide apex, trifurcated; cercus without basal or middle tubercle.
Specimens examined. HOLOTYPE 3, Zhejiang: Anji, Longwangshan Mountain, 20.VII.1995, Hong Wu; 3 3, Taiwan: Nantou, Yuchi, Lianhua Pond (675 m) (23°92' N, 120°67' E), 11.XI.2010, Ding Yang.
Distribution. Taiwan (Nantou), Zhejiang (Anji).
Remarks. This species is recorded from Taiwan for the first time. See Yang and Li (1998) for description of this species.
