Notes: Kambestad et al. (2017) showed that Hypothenemus eruditus is made up of a complex of many morphologically cryptic species and many of the synonyms likely represent good species that should be resurrected. The syntypes of H. eruditus are all bicoloured, however several species currently treated as H. eruditus are uniformly dark in colour. Based on BLAST identification of the obtained DNA sequences, the specimen pictured in Fig. 29 falls in what is this H. eruditus complex but could represent a distinct species.
