Margarinotus faedatus is newly recorded on Prince Edward Island. The species is widely distributed in the Maritime Provinces ( Fig. 1 View Fig ). It has been recorded in Canada from Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, and occurs south to Texas and Georgia in the United States. It is found in decaying organic matter such as carrion, dung, and rotten mushrooms ( Bousquet and Laplante 2006).
