Genus Schizodectes Park and Atyeo

Schizodectes fenestralis (Trouessart, 1885)

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Coeligena bonapartei (Boissoneau) ( Apodiformes : Trochilidae ) from Colombia (as “ Nouvelle-Grenade ”) ( Trouessart 1885a). Later on, it was recorded from the same host and country (Dept. Cundinamarca, Bogotá) ( Park & Atyeo 1972b).

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Phaethornis superciliosus muelleri Hellmayr ( Apodiformes : Trochilidae ) from Brazil (Para) and ex Phaethornis a. anthophilus (Bourcier) from Colombia (Dept. Norte de Santander, Petrólea) ( Park & Atyeo 1972b). This mite has never been recollected since the original description.
