Description. Coloration. Chestnut brown. Head and pronotum ( Figs 5, 7 View FIGURES 5 – 8 ) similar to those in Pedionis aculeata sp. nov., but darker; Scutellum ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 5 – 8 ) dark brown with dark basal triangles; anteclypeus dark brown. Forewing ( Figs 5, 6 View FIGURES 5 – 8 ) chestnut brown without hyaline fenestra, subapical cells without dark spots, venation without white spots. Legs dark brown.
Male genitalia. Pygophore ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ) triangular, caudal margin ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ) produced into papilliform process, with four blunt spines; row of short sparse setae along 2/3 ventral surface. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ) narrow and long, about 0.2 times as long as ventral margin of pygophore; in lateral view, slightly curved dorsally, of uniform width; apex round with long marginal setae. Aedeagal shaft, in lateral view, strongly curved dorsally ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ); in dorsal view, gradually narrowed towards apex ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ); apex with lateral flanges of denticle margin ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ); aedeagal apodeme pooly developed, apex bearing one acute tooth; dorsal connective ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 17 – 25 ) in lateral view, M-shaped, distal part dorsally curved without marginal serration.
Measurement. Length: Male, 4.45 mm long, head 1.35 mm wide across eyes, pronotum 1.32mm wide.
Distribution. China: Guizhou (Suiyang).
Material examined. Holotype: ♂, China: Guizhou province, Suiyang county, Kuankuoshui Nature Reserve, 0 9 June 2010, collected by Bin Zhang.
Remarks. Pedionis papillata is similar to P. acerosa Dai & Li in the shape of aedeagus, but differs in the following respects: forewing chestnut brown without hyaline fenestra, venation without white spots ( P. acerosa : forewing yellowish brown with oblique fenestra across middle hyaline and dark spots in subapical cells, venation with white spots); pygophore with apex produced into papilliform process, with four blunt spines ( P. acerosa : pygophore with apex tapering to acute tip); lateral process of aedeagal shaft narrow and short with denticle margin, distal part of dorsal connective dorsally curved with smooth margin ( P. acerosa : apical part of aedeagal shaft with broad and long process bearing 5 small spines, distal part of dorsal connective ventrally curved with dense serrations).
Etymology. The specific name, papillata , refers to the pygophore with caudal margin produced into papillary process at apex.
