Diagnosis. A Proterotaiwanella species with 49 legbearing segments. Body length reaching at least 3 cm. Clypeal ratio about 4. Forcipular article I and III each with a tooth; article II and tarsungulum without teeth.
Type material. Syntypes: number, sex and age not stated ( Takakuwa, 1936e).
Type locality. ‘ Formosa (Keisyu, Keiko)’, Taiwan ( Takakuwa, 1936e) .
Depository of type material. The syntypes are probably lost (see Discussion).
Material examined. None.
Description. Body size reaching at least about 3 cm. Body colour yellow, without dark patches, head and forcipular segment darker. Head 1.7 times as long as wide. Areolate part of the clypeus with about 15 setae on each side, apparently scattered, most of them on the posterior part of the clypeus; plagulae without setae, subtriangular. Clypeal ratio about 4.0 (but see Remarks). Labrum: anterior ala triangular, medial margin reduced to a vertex; posterior margin of the posterior ala with about 25 small fingerlike projections. Mandible with about 7 well developed lamellae, first lamella with 5 teeth, intermediate lamella with 7–10 teeth; ventral side covered with small scales, giving an hairy apparence. Second maxillae telopodite with a small apical claw. Forcipules: article I with a distal tooth; article II untoothed; article III with a tooth; tarsungulum untoothed. A total of 49 legbearing segments. Last legbearing segment: up to 30 coxal pores on each side.
Distribution in the considered area.
Taiwan: ‘ Keisyu , Keiko’ [1] [=Xizhou and Xihu, Zhanghuaxian] (type localities) .
General distribution. Taiwan.
Remarks. The clypeal ratio was given as about 5 in the original description ( Takakuwa, 1936e), but it can be estimated as only 4,0 from the drawing provided by the same author.
