Tribe Pardalotini View in CoL Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878
The genus Pardalota Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 may be recognized from Poecilogramma Karsch, 1887 by the less poorly developed fastigium of the vertex, that is a little wider than in Poecilogramma ( Ragge 1980) (compare Fig. 7E View FIGURE 7 with 9E). In addition, the strikingly variegated colour of Pardalota includes more or less wide round spots, while that of Poecilogramma consists of colored stripes. Another character that allows to separate the two genera is the shape of cerci, that are pointed and incurved in Pardalota , flat or rounded in Poecilogramma (compare Figs 7B, 7D, 7G View FIGURE 7 with 9C, 9F).
