Distribution & Ecology. Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Pacific drainage of Colombia and Ecuador. A component of lowland evergreen rain forest mostly below 500 m elevation, but ascending to 1000 m elevation in Darién, Panama. The distribution of this subspecies is largely distinct from that of subsp. quadrijuga , apart from a small area of overlap in northern Colombia and Panama.
