In this study, 59 species belonging to 17 genera in 4 subfamilies of fruit flies were determined from Nevşehir (36 species) and Niğde (58 species) provinces. Urophora trinervii Korneyev and White, 1996 is recorded for the first time from Turkey. Thus, the number of Turkish fruit flies has increased to 160.

The results of this study demonstrate the abundance of fruit flies in the study region. Niğde Province is located north of Adana and Mersin provinces. The rainy climate of the Mediterranean region affects Niğde, and this climatic condition has enriched the fauna of Niğde Province. Nevşehir Province is located in the Central Anatolia region. The elevation of Nevşehir has fewer height differences, and Nevşehir has fewer climatic differences than Niğde. These climatic and geographic conditions of Nevşehir affect the flora, reducing the number of fruit flies .

In the study region, the most widespread species is Terellia serratulae (Linnaeus 1758) , which was collected in

73 locations; Tephritis postica (Loew 1844) follows it from 60 locations. Nine species ( Campiglossa tesellata [Loew 1844], Dioxyna sororcula [Wiedemann 1830], Heringina guttata [Fallen 1814], Tephritis acanthiophilopsis [Hering 1938], T. hyoscyami [Linnaeus 1758], T. merzi [Freidberg and Kütük 2002], T. recurrens Loew 1869 , Urophora doganlari Kütük 2006 , and U. tenuis Becker 1908 ) were collected from just 1 location each.

These results have given new data about the fruit fly fauna of Nevşehir and Niğde provinces, demonstrating similar results with general Turkish fruit fly fauna.
