Diagnosis. Carapace with smooth integument, one strong dorsal denticle, rounded anterior-ventral margin, smooth ventral margin, ocular lobe half of frontal lobe, with five lenses; maxilliped 3 propodus longest article, 1.61 times as long as carpus, two pappose setae on medial margin, one pappose seta on outer margin. Dactylus of pereopod 3–5 fused with terminal seta; uropodal peduncle as long as last pleonite.
Description. Subadult female (holotype MGAB CUM 1741).
Body size: 1.39 mm.
Carapace ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 A). Smooth integument, 0.29 times entire body length, 1.5 times as long as high, one strong dorsal denticle, rounded anterior-ventral margin, smooth ventral margin, ocular lobe half of frontal lobe, with five lenses, 0.75 times frontal lobe length, large antennal notch, three anterior simple setae, long simple setae, two dorsal and one on each side.
Pereon ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 A), 0.25 times entire body length, one long simple seta on each side of 3rd and 4th article.
Pleon ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 A), half of body length.

Basal article of peduncle 0.73 times as long as rest of articles together, one simple seta on outer margin, one simple and one bifid setae on 2nd article, 3rd article little longer than 2nd one, with one bifid seta on outer margin, main flagellum with two articles, accessory one, with two articles, half of basal article of main flagellum, long aesthetascs.
Maxilliped 3 ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 D). Basis 0.3 times as long as rest of articles together, two plumose setae on outer margin; merus 3.83 times as long as ischium, carpus 1.18 times as long as merus; long propodus, 1.61 times as long as carpus, longest article of maxilliped 3, two pappose setae on medial margin, one pappose one on outer margin; dactylus 0.23 times as long as propodus, two setae on medial margin, three on outer one, terminal robust seta 1.5 times dactylus length; short incompletely developed exopod.
Pereopod 1 ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 E). Basis 0.55 times as long as rest of articles together, merus 1.18 times as long as ischium; carpus 2.16 times as long as merus, one medial, one medial and one outer simple seta on carpus; propodus 1.27 times as long as carpus, one simple seta on both margins, one simple short seta on each margins of dactylus, one long simple seta on outer margin, one robust one on medial margin, terminal robust seta 2 times dactylus length; short incompletely developed exopod.
Pereopod 2 ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 F). Basis 0.6 times as long as rest of articles, one seta on medial margin of ischium; merus 3.25 times as long as ischium; carpus 1.07 times as long as merus; dactylus 1.28 times as long as propodus, two subterminal robust setae and one terminal robust seta 2.22 times dactylus length; incompletely developed exopod.

Peduncle as long as last pleonite, one simple seta on medial margin, endopod 0.74 times peduncle; exopod 0.76 times endopod length, five setae on outer margin of 2nd article of exopod, terminal robust seta 0.9 times exopod length; endopod with medial serrate margin, one simple seta and four shorter ones on medial margin, one subterminal stout seta, terminal robust terminal seta 0.48 times endopod length.
Etymology. The species was named maxipropa after the large propodus of maxilliped 3.
Remarks. Cumella maxipropa sp. nov. has carapace with one denticle on dorsal margin, smooth ventral margin like Cumella sp. 1 (described herein) from Puerto Rico and long setae on the carapace and pereon like C. longiseta sp. nov. from Puerto Rico, C. coralicola Băcescu, 1971 and C. pilosa Băcescu, 1971 from Florida ( Băcescu, 1971). It differs in: 1) carapace without evident anterior ventral corner vs. evident one; 2) dorsal long setae on carapace and pereon vs. carapace, pereon and pleon; 3) antenna 1 accessory flagellum with two articles vs. one; 4) maxilliped 3 propodus 1.6 times carpus length vs. 1.37 times; 5) uropodal peduncle with one seta on medial margin vs. four, five ones ( C. pilosa has one seta on medial margin, but three on outer margin vs. none in C. maxipropa ).
