Seioptera picta ( Blanchard, 1854: 454)

Syntype. ( MNHN? See com.)

Distribution. Chile. Coquimbo.

References. Steyskal, 1968: 23 (cat. as unplaced species); Evenhuis, 2015: 44 (list of species).

Comments. Blanchard (1854) described a new genus and four species to the tribe Ortaliditas from Chile. The genus Ortalidina Blanchard, 1854 was erect to host the new species Ortalidina cellularis Blanchard, 1854 , now into Chamaemyiidae ( Gaimari, 2012) . Other three species were described to the genus Ortalis (= Seioptera ): O. decorata and O. striolata , currently, into Tephritidae ( Norrbom et al., 1999) , and the reminiscent species O. picta (= Seioptera picta ) into Ulidiidae .

Although, most of the type material from the work of Blanchard (1854) is hosted in MNHN, as the types of O. decorata and O. striolata , the type of O. picta was not found in the database of the MNHN Diptera´s collection (MNHN, 2024).
